Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that is often misunderstood, with widespread misinformation and a lack of awareness about the diversity in symptoms of autistic individuals.
Mandate
I was tasked with designing and prototyping an informative and objective website about ASD that would capture and maintain user attention more effectively than typical ASD information websites.
Design Thinking
Many existing webpages for ASD rely on dense blocks of text, usually a dark colour on a white background. These websites are usually not organised well, and information is hard to find all in one place, making it difficult for users to gain a comprehensive understanding of it. I knew my design solution had to address these issues.
Design Making
To create a dynamic and engaging user experience, I incorporated varying type sizes, interactive elements, and strategic use of whitespace. These elements work together to create a sense of rhythm and visual variety, keeping users interested in the site's content. The colours illicit a serious but playful tone which makes the content more interesting to engage with.
